::Artistic Excursion To The World Of Shopping::
My previous working with communal art among others was the starting point for my interest to
go on artistic excursions to shopping areas. It was tempting to step into the territory of everyday
materialism and find both interaction and new dimensions for art contexts.
The technique is digital abstraction of photos. The material has been shot in department stores
in Helsinki during the year 2005. Visio Emporium is a thematic series existing in abstracted
atmospheres and contemporary pieces – almost like an installation of a product family with
embedded parodic impressions.
In visual terms my pictures captured a advisedly decorated environment – as though modern
temples of our time. As a whole I hope my photos will reveal the flip side of material temptation
with its ethical questions and artistic dimensions. -PAA-
